G: Wie hat Guilty Simpson reagiert, als Black Milk sämtliche Aufnahmen des Price-Simpson-Milk Kollaboprojekts “Random Axe” verlor? Wo bleibt das Elzhi-Phat Kat Album “Cold Steel”? Mit welchen Produzenten arbeiten die Jungs im Augenblick und wie fühlt es sich für Big Tone an, zum ersten Mal in Europa auf Tour zu sein?
Diese Fragen haben wir zunächst abgeklärt, bevor wir mit Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Big Tone & DJ Graffiti unsere “Vinylcheck”-Rubrik fortgeführt haben und zeitweilig in Erinnerungen schwelgten. Denn im Vinylcheck sprachen wir mit den Jungs aus der Motorstadt nicht nur über ihre eigenen Releases und deren Entstehung, sondern begaben uns auch auf einen musikalischen Streifzug durch die Geschichte Detroits.
E: Once more we welcome representatives of Detroit’s rap scene in our show. We sat backstage at the splash! festival with Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Big Tone and DJ Graffiti. Guilty Simpson explained that the “Random Axe” project with Black Milk and Sean Price is already finished and revealed details of his next project on Stones Throw Records with Madlib. Phat Kat talked about his collabo album with eLZhi and Big Tone spoke about his impression to be the first time in Europe.
Afterwards we proceeded with our rubric “Vinyl Check” where we took a trip down memory lane through Detroit’s venerable music scene.
